When assisting a woman with disabilities through pregnancy and labour:
- Learn about the possible problems a woman with a disability may face during pregnancy or child birth
- Talk to her about the importance of eating well, medicines, and health exams during pregnancy
- Help her learn how her disability may (or may not) affect child birth
- Do not assume that because she is disabled, she cannot have a vaginal birth
- Respect her decision to have a child, and do not assume she cannot care for her baby
